Created this painting Fishing at Wyndley Pool by Sylvester Martin in 1889

Sylvester Martin was the son of Anson Ambrose Martin 1799 to 1876. A Prominent Animal and Landscape Painter

Sylvester was one of 4 children born to Anson Ambrose Martin and his wife Louisa. Sylvester married Mary Ann Hardy in 1877 at Kings Norton, Warwickshire and lived the rest of his life in the Birmingham Area. He died childless. He was taught painting by his father and in many ways his paintings are similar, he created a large number of hunting scenes and works about fox hunting, and country people and their pursuits. Like his father he did very few exhibitions for the public. Mostly painted works by commission

Wyndley Pool

Wyndley Pool may have been made not long after the Earl of Warwick’s deer enclosure in Sutton Park was created in 1126 as a fishpond.

Sutton Park is in Sutton Coldfield Birmingham in the West Midlands
