Alexandre Juliard was a pupil of Michel Drolling and François Picot. He presented his work at the Salon de Paris from 1844 to 1874 gaining a third class medal in 1846. He came from a military family which seems to have been the inspiration for numerous portraits of officers. His genre paintings include: Pifferari Neapolitan Brigands Waiting in Ambush.
